Azerbaijan’s First Lady: Development of education in Azerbaijan is a priority area"
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the French Embassy in Azerbaijan, the
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Ministry of Education
signed a protocol of intention today, to build a French school in
the country.
At a meeting held at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation
prior to the signing ceremony, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of
the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP
Mehriban Aliyeva expressed hope that the French school will have a
positive impact on processes of development of the education in
Azerbaijan.
Mrs. Aliyeva appraised the Azerbaijani - French
relations and attributed the opening of the French school in Baku as
the next step in successfully developing cooperation between the two
countries in all fields, voicing her satisfaction with the Heydar
Aliyev Foundation’s involvement in this project together with the state
agencies.
"I hope that a French school will soon operate in our
country and it will also have a positive impact on education in
Azerbaijan. You know that, the attention to education and development
of education in Azerbaijan is a priority area today. Of course, the
activities of such a school in our country will give a powerful impetus
to this process. I commend all those involved in this project. I know a
great job have been done so far. I hope that we will establish a very
fruitful cooperation in the future,” Mrs. Aliyeva said.
Mrs.
Aliyeva stressed that human factor is the property of any state and
Azerbaijan's future depends on students, children and youth of today.
Therefore, education is a priority area in the country and its
development is given special attention, all necessary steps are taken
for a lasting initiation of the young generation to knowledge.
French
Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gabriel Keller voiced his gratitude to
Mrs. Aliyeva for the support. He said that this momentous event is very
significant to the Azerbaijani-French relations.
Speaking about
the state care to education in Azerbaijan, Education Minister Misir
Mardanov highlighted the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and
the projects that Foundation implemented in the field of educational
development. He noted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which has
achieved a great success in various fields, realizes its most ambitious
projects in the field of education. To date, more than 300 educational
institutions of the modern type have been built upon the Foundation's
initiative.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullaev highlighted the
economic success and a favorable investment environment in the country.
He noted that the foreign investors’ interest to Azerbaijan is growing.
This institution is the perfect gift for the children of
French-speaking citizens, who come to our country to work, he added.
Then,
President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, French
ambassador to Azerbaijan Gabriel Keller, President of the SOCAR Rovnag
Abdullayev and Education Minister Misir Mardanov signed a Declaration
on construction of French school in Baku.
Creating a school that
provides an opportunity to the French-speaking foreign nationals
temporarily or permanently residing in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani
citizens to learn the French language is in the interests of both
countries. The French school, which will organize education in
accordance with the national curriculum of France, will be an important
factor for cooperation between the two countries in education, culture
and linguistics.
Under the Declaration, the curriculum of the
French school will be line with the classic French model, which is
applied in the 12-year institution of general education starting from
kindergarten. The education will be carried out in the French language.
The
French government will recognize the school certificate. Alumni of the
school will have opportunities to continue their education in any
university of France of their own choice.
Creating
a new school will further enhance economic cooperation between the two
countries by promoting training of highly skilled professionals in the
future. Mrs. Aliyeva expressed hope that such fruitful collaboration will continue in the future.
